Amazon Business Opens Wholesale Procurement to Udyam and FSSAI Holders Ahead of Festive Season

Udyam registration is the government-issued certification that recognises a business as an MSME, while an FSSAI license is the mandatory regulatory approval required for businesses involved in manufacturing, processing or selling food products.

Amazon Business, the wholesale unit of Amazon India catering to MSMEs and other enterprises, on Wednesday said enterprises with Udyam certificate and FSSAI license will now be able to procure goods from the e-commerce platform. According to the company, access to the wholesale procurement was so far limited to businesses with GST and business PAN.

Udyam registration is the government-issued certification that recognises a business as an MSME, while an FSSAI license is the mandatory regulatory approval required for businesses involved in manufacturing, processing or selling food products.

This comes weeks ahead of this year’s online festive season sale. With the unlock of Amazon Business for Udyam and FSSAI holders, micro businesses across sectors including agro and food processing to textiles manufacturing, packaging, and more, can make wholesale procurement through Amazon Business that offers bulk pricing.

“Until now, Amazon Business access was limited to businesses with GST and Business PAN. Over time, we heard from many micro-businesses, who hold other business licenses like Udyam and FSSAI, that they would also benefit from the simplified digital procurement that Amazon Business offers. With this expansion, we have now opened the door for millions of businesses to access authentic products, competitive bulk pricing, and a streamlined procurement experience, right in time for the festive season,” said Mitranjan Bhaduri, Director, Amazon Business.

The online platform via Amazon Pay Later offers 30-day interest-free credit as well to help MSMEs manage cash flow for larger purchases.

According to Amazon Business, it saw over 35 per cent growth during H1 2025 in new buying customers compared to the previous year, as businesses increasingly turn to digital procurement to streamline operations.

The strongest adoption comes from entrepreneurs in tier-2 and tier-3 cities, who represent over 70 per cent of the customer base. This growth aligns with broader trends—according to Bessemer Venture Partners, India's digital procurement market is expected to reach $200 billion by 2030, reflecting the transformation underway in how Indian businesses source and purchase.
